9 Prophetﷺ hadiths on remembering Allah

Pakrush Admin       Monday, August 24, 2020
There are unlimited blessings and bounties upon a person who remembers Allah as often as they can. Hadiths are full of Prophet Mohammad sayings and quotes that shed light on why we must invest our time and attention on remembering Allah while still not cutting us off from everyday life.

The significance of Allah's remembrance is better understood when we read about Prophet Mohammad (SAW) day-to-day life as he "used to remember Allah at all moments" (Sahi Muslim

In another quote narrated by Aisha (ra) that "the Messenger of Allah (saw) used to remember Allah in all of his affairs"

So, let's read these 6 Hadiths to further our understanding about this topic:

Prophet Mohammad (saw) hadiths on remembrance of Allah

1) Riyad as Salihin 1435

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah the Exalted says: 'I am as my slave expects me to be, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me inwardly, I will remember him inwardly, and if he remembers Me in an assembly, I will remember him in a better assembly (i.e., in the assembly of angels)."

2) Ibn Maajah 3791

Prophet Mohammad ﷺ said, "No people sit in a gathering remembering Allah, But the angels surround them, mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them and Allah remembers them before those who are with Him."

3) Ryad as Salihin 1518

Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not indulge in excessive talk except when remembering Allah. Excessive talking without the Remembrance of Allah hardens the heart; and those who are the farthest from Allah are those whose hearts are hard."

4) Bulugh al Maram

Prophet Mohammad (saw) said, "A man does nothing to rescue himself from Allah’s punishment better than remembering Allah.” (reference)

5) Abu Dawud 4855

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "People who get up from an assembly in which they did not remember Allah will be just as if they had got up from an ass's corpse, and it will be a cause of grief to them."

6) Sahi Bukhari 6479

The Prophet (ﷺ) said Allah will give shade to seven (types of people) under His Shade (on the Day of Resurrection). (one of them will be) a person who remembers Allah and his eyes are then flooded with tears."

7) Sahi Muslim 1706

Prophet Mohammad ﷺ said," The house in which remembrance of Allah is made and the house in which Allah is not remembered are like the living and the dead."

8) Tirmidhi 3383

Prophet ﷺ said: “The best remembrance is: ‘there is none worthy of worship except Allah (Lā ilāha illallāh - La ilaha ill-Allah)’"

9) Riyad as Salihin 1438

One of the Companions said, "O Messenger of Allah. There are many injunctions of Islam for me. So tell me something to which I may hold fast." He ﷺ said, "Keep your tongue wet with the remembrance of Allah."
