Short dua to recite in cold weather conditions

Winter season is good, especially in countries where hot weather stays almost all year round, but when the weather gets too cold to bear, life becomes hard and comes to a standstill. Islam has not left us unprotected in any area of life, so here is a very powerful and precise dua that you can recite during cold weather conditions.

Recite during blizzard and heavy snowfall

This prayer can be recited during heavy snowfall and conditions such as blizzard that sees strong winds. Even if you are sitting in a warm house with a proper heating system, it is dangerous to step outside as extreme weather may hurt your health severely. So, asking relief from all-powerful God is the sanest decision you can make.

You are well aware that why this dua is so important to recite because it brings us benefits and saves us from pain. Some of the common health dangers of blizzard and snow:

• Hypothermia 
• Frostbite
• Heart problems  

You are probably wondering how come there is cold in hell as jahannam is usually mentioned as a place where there is burning fire, hotness, thirst and no relief. The fact is, punishment from Allah can come in any form, be it fire or freezing temperatures. Even in this life on Earth, we frequently see people freeze to death due to cold weather conditions going beyond limits.

Zamhareer: Cold part of jahannam 

There is a sahi hadith regarding hell having two sections. Zamhareer, which is the cold area in jahannam has been mentioned in Sahi Bukhari 537 and Sahi Muslim 617.

"The hell-fire of hell complained to its Lord saying: "O Lord ! My parts are eating (destroying) one another. So Allah allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold (or the severe cold is due to zamhareer - the extremely cold section of jahannam)"

People who live in mountainous regions know how every winter season brings difficulties in the form of extreme weather, food supplies getting blocked, roads getting blocked due to heavy snowfall, health issues such as illness, cold and flue, Those in poor countries who have little resources to protect themselves from freezing temperatures, are forced to move to areas where weather is bearable.

Benefits in this world and hereafter 

In addition to protecting you from worldly cold and the pain and discomfort it inflicts upon you, Allah will Inshallah save you from hell. Let's be thankful to God for giving us blessings not just in this physical world, but also in the hereafter.  

Since almost every dua and prayer in Islam starts with the praise and acknowledgement for Allah and His attributes, we are promised benefits in dunya and akhira. The dua mentioned above, begins by acknowledging that Allah is the only God, which means everything proceeds from Him and we must rely on Him for relief.

Prophet Mohammad SAW is reported to have said, "When a person recites the following supplication, Allah says to jahannam, 'Indeed a servant of mine has sought refuge in me from you, bear testimony that I have granted him salvation from you."
