Dua for overcoming jealousy

Sehrish Khan       Friday, April 27, 2018
How do I get rid of jealousy? It is hard overcoming it and I usually end up creating negative and jealous thoughts about people who are better than me?

The best dua to overcome jealousy are Surah Falaq and Surah Naas

What do I do when I start feeling jealous of others?
Start reciting these two Surahs whenever you feel that negative thoughts are flooding your mind. Another best way to rid yourself of jealousy (hasad) is to make these two Surahs part of your regular salah (prayer)

Since the jealous person is the only victim who causes harm to himself/herself by feeling jealous of others, these two Surahs serve the purpose of removing this disease from the heart.

Surah Falaq and Naas were exclusively revealed to relieve Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him of the effects of jealousy that had culminated in a magic spell. Magic, in most cases, is the cause of jealousy/hasad.

In order to get the desired results from these duas (Surah Nas and Falaq), you must understand the meaning of what Allah has said in these verses.

- Acknowledge that all harms occur by the will of Allah and they happen to put us to the test so Allah (God) will know how good a Muslim we are.
- Understand that jealousy is a form of evil that is created due to ego/sense of superiority/inferiority/competitive mindset/hatred/resentment.
- Have a firm belief that Allah has power to heal your jealousy issue
- Remember that being jealous of others will only harm you.
- Remember that others may feel jealous of you like you are jealous of them (what goes around comes around)
