There are several verses in the Glorious Quran where Allah advises humans to use their thinking ability and intellect to ponder over creation -- and as a result, get closer and closer to their Creator.
When we think with our egoic mind, which is based on memory and our experiences, and don't assume that they may be right or wrong, Allah blocks the right information and wisdom from flowing to us as we are not relying on the Source of all knowledge (Al-Aleem - The Knowing), rather relying on our own limited self and assumptions.
Quran verses about thinking/intelligence/intellect are mentioned in Arabic text as well:
1: Surah Al A'raf: Verse No. 184 (Chapter # 7)
Translation:
Then do they not give thought? There is in their companion (Muhammad) no madness. He is not but a clear warnerEnglish Transliteration:
Awa lam yatafak-karoo maa bisahibihim min jinnatin in hua illa nazeerum-mubeen (Verse 184)2: Surah Al A'raf: Verse No. 185 (Chapter # 7)
Translation:
Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allah has created and (think) that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement hereafter will they believe?English Transliteration:
Awalam yanzuru fee malakootis-samawaati wal-arzi wama Khalaqallahu min shai-in wa-ann asaa ann yakoona qadiqtaraba ajalahum. Fabi ayyi hadeesim ba'dahu yu'minoonWhy critical thinking is important according to Quran
Quran encourages the use of intellect/intelligence that is free from ego and false obsession about one's own thinking ability as surrendering to the Source of all creation is the key step toward gaining real wisdom and faith. Wisdom leads to faith.
