20+ Quran verses that shed light on Astaghfar

Allah wants to save humans and see them flourish both in this world and the life after death. For this, He wants people to become conscious of their mistakes and sins so that they can repent to Him in order to improve themselves. In several verses of His book The Holy Quran, God encourages us to keep reviewing ourselves by practicing Astaghfar or repentance.

1) Surah Hud 3

"[And] saying, "Seek forgiveness of your Lord [and] repent to Him, and He will let you enjoy provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day."

2) Surah An Nisa 17 

"Allah accepts the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards. To them, Allah will turn in mercy, for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom."

3) Surah Hud 52

"And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals."

4) Surah An Nasr 3

"Then exalt [Him] with praise of Your Lord and seek forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is every Accepting of repentance."

5) Surah Az Zumr 53

"Say, 'O my servants who have transgressed against themselves (by sinning), do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'"

"And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins, and who can forgive sins except Allah? and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know."  

7) Surah Yusuf 98

"He said, 'I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed it is He Who is the Forgiving, the Merciful,'"

"And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, and because Allah is Accepting of repentance and Wise."
