Food is one of the blessings from Allah and as it is obligatory for us to acknowledge God by thanking Him for his blessing.
Duas and prayers are a great way to let God know that we appreciate His favors upon us. Prophet Mohammad PBUH instructed His companions and everyone in one of Hadiths: "Whoever is given food by Allah, let Him say (this dua) ⇓
Transliteration:
Allahumma baarik lana feehi warzuqna khayram-minhEnglish translation:
O Allah give us barakah in this (food) and also provide us with something even better than it [narrated Ibn Ibbas - Sunan Ibn Maajah 3322]

Follow these 9 Prophetﷺ instructions for barakah in food
To gain maximum benefits from our food and find barakah in it, it is crucial to follow Prophet Mohammad ﷺ guidelines. Here are 9 instructions derived from Hadiths:
- Say Bismillah before meal
- Eat with your right hand
- Always eat from what is in front of you
- Do no overeat
- Try to eat together with others
- If the food drops, pick it up, remove dirt from it and eat.
- Lick your fingers after eating, for there's barakah in it
- Show honor to food (do not express ungratefulness toward it)
- Use olive oil
