There are times when you feel totally helpless and no matter what you do you just don't seem to put an end to the mental assault that is troubling you. Making dua when you need it the most works miracle and this is what Allah wants us to do during the time of troubles and mental struggle.
You are relying on your own ego and self-confidence:
The worst thing as a Muslim you can do during difficulty is rely on your own ego and self-confidence. Your being mentally troubled in a situation is a clear sign that you are trying to resist something that is beyond your mental control and this why it is annoying or troubling you.
Keep reciting this verse from Quran:
English Transliteration: Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel
English translation: Allah is sufficient for us (3:173)
Let go of your ego
Let go of your ego and know that there are troubles that are beyond your control and your ego:
Your ego loves to take control of your life as it is built-in and Allah created it for the purpose of testing us. Your ego will tell you to use your own intellect and brain to get out of the problem, but there are events, things in life that can totally destroy us mentally and emotionally. Instead of ignoring Allah and not acknowledging His control over all matter, every soul and all things existing in and beyond the Universe, calm down and loose yourself
Why not let Allah step in and use His own infinite intelligence and unlimited power to solve your problem?
No matter how small or petty your problem is (you may be having a hard time dealing with an angry spouse or rude boss), admit in your mind you are vulnerable to mistakes and negligence, but there is one power that has control over everything. Allah has the upper hand over everything as He is the Creator.
