4 Social, Spiritual Benefits Of Hajj

  Anonymous       Sunday, June 13, 2021

There are various benefits of performing Hajj, something that each person can walk away with learning from the deeds and ceremonies conducted during Hajj.  Hajj is an obligatory form of worship for Muslims who have the means and health to do it.

Hajj offers plenty of social and spiritual benefits to the pilgrims. Its a once in a life time type of experience for believers and the spiritual vibes is breathtaking and brings them closer to Allah and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Honoring The Symbols of Allah

Muslim performing Hajj learns to reverence God's emblems. God says, "The first House established for mankind was that at Mecca—blessed and a guidance for the worlds. In it are clear signs: the standing place of Ibrahim. Whoever enters it shall be safe.” [Quran 3: 96-97]

In experiencing these signals, you are reminded of Islam's past and fight for faith as recounted in Abraham's story. It helps Muslim believers learn to honor and respect the symbols of Allah. Allah says, “Whoever honors the Symbols of God—indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.” [Quran 22: 32]

Compassion,Love For Entire Muslim Community

From across all continents, Muslims gather in one place to perform Hajj irrespective of color, backgrounds, countries, cultures, there is a sense of unity and harmony among all pilgrims. This teaches every Muslim the important of having compassion and love for entire Muslim community.

“The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the organs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.” [Muslim] The Prophet said: “The Muslims; their lives are equal, they are united against those that oppose them, the protection offered by the humblest of them is inviolable, and they share with those not with them.” [Ibn Majah] The hajj reflects the strength and unity of the Muslim Ummah. God says, “We made the House a place of return for the people and a refuge.” [Quran 2: 125]

Following in The Footsteps of Ibrahim and Ismael (Peace Be Upon Them)

Another important benefit of Hajj that it rejuvenates and refreshes the story and sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismael (Peace Be Upon Them) and prepares Muslims to sacrifice everything for in the way of Allah just like They did.

Allah says in Quran, “And when Ibrahim raised the foundations of the House along with Isma’il: ‘Lord, accept from us. You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Our Lord, make us Muslims for your sake and from our descendants a Muslim nation in submission to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. You are the accepting of repentance, the Merciful. Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” [Quran 2: 127-129]

Reiterating Oneness of Allah

Hajj offers an opportunity to Muslims to proclaim and reiterate Oneness of Allah (Monotheism being the major pillar of Islam). Throughout the Hajj's rituals and acts, one acknowledges God's unity and does it with the only aim of obeying God, following the Prophet's example. "They are ones God guided, therefore follow that guidance." [Quran 6:90]
